We pick stories based on three filters: is this useful, surprising, or under-covered? Does it match what our readers came here for? Can we publish it cleanly and quickly? If a story fails any of those, we don't run it.

Our standards

We tell the truth. To readers, to partners, to advertisers, to each other. Even when it's uncomfortable. Especially when it's uncomfortable.

We credit the people who did the original work. Always.

We don't run misleading headlines. The headline matches the article. No bait. No tricks.

We don't publish content that exploits readers, traffics in cynicism, or burns trust for short-term traffic. The reader doesn't owe us anything. We owe the reader.

If we get something wrong, we correct it openly and quickly.
